Sausage, Mash & Gravy

For the Gravy:

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional Garnishes:

  • Chopped parsley
  • Peas

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Sausages

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-proof skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the sausages and cook, turning occasionally, until browned all over, about 10 minutes.
  4. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the sausages are cooked through.

Step 2: Make the Mashed Potatoes

  1. While the sausages are baking, place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water.
  2. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  4. Add the butter and warmed milk to the potatoes.
  5. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
