Ingredients:
- 2 lbs catfish nuggets
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 cup hot sauce
- 2 medium-sized eggs
- 2 tsp Cajun seasoning (use your favorite brand)
- 2–2 1/2 cups oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the Fish
Make sure the catfish is thoroughly cleaned, then set it aside. - Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine self-rising flour, cornmeal, and Cajun seasoning. Stir until well mixed. - Prepare the Wet Mixture
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and add hot sauce, mixing until smooth. - Coat the Fish
Dip each piece of fish into the egg and hot sauce mixture, ensuring it’s well coated, then dredge in the flour mixture until fully covered. Let the coated fish sit for 5 minutes to allow the coating to adhere. - Heat the Oil
Heat oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350–375°F. - Fry the Catfish
Carefully add the fish to the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy. Once done, remove the fish and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Serve hot with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, and coleslaw, and enjoy a taste of Southern comfort!
ENJOY! This dish is perfect for gatherings or whenever you’re in the mood for a savory, crispy treat.
