Instructions:
Prepare the Ribs:
If the ribs have a membrane on the back, remove it. This helps the flavors penetrate better.
Pat the ribs dry with paper towels and season them generously with salt and black pepper.
Make the Barbecue Sauce:
In a bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, smoked paprika, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper if using. Mix well to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
Layer the Slow Cooker:
Place the sliced onions at the bottom of the slow cooker to create a bed for the ribs.
Lay the seasoned beef ribs on top of the onions.
Pour the Sauce:
Pour the prepared barbecue sauce over the ribs, ensuring they are evenly coated.
Add Liquid:
If using beef broth, pour it gently along the sides of the slow cooker. This adds moisture to the cooking process.
