1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
2. Stir in melted butter and milk to form a sticky dough.
3. Grease the inside of your slow cooker.
4. Spread chopped apples in an even layer at the bottom of the slow cooker.
5. In a small bowl, mix golden syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the apples.
7. Pour the golden syrup mixture evenly over the dough.
8. Combine hot water and brown sugar and gently pour around the edges and over the dough.
9. Cover and cook on high for about 2 hours until the dumplings are puffed up and the sauce has thickened.
10. Serve warm directly from the slow cooker.
Variations & Tips
For a different twist, you could add different fruits like pears or even mixed berries for a more summery feel. If you’re not a fan of golden syrup, maple syrup makes a wonderful substitute. For a little crunch, sprinkle some granola or chopped nuts over the top just before serving.
