Recipe: Fried Crab Legs
Ingredients:
- 1 pound crab legs, thawed if frozen
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Lemon wedges for serving
- Optional: tartar sauce or cocktail sauce for dipping
Directions:
- In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Pour the buttermilk into another shallow dish.
- Dip each crab leg into the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off.
- Dredge the crab legs in the seasoned flour mixture, coating them evenly on all sides. Shake off any excess flour.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place the coated crab legs into the hot oil, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the skillet.
- Fry the crab legs for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, turning them occasionally with tongs.
- Using a slotted spoon or tongs, transfer the fried crab legs to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
