For the Taco Sauce:
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Taco Sauce
In a small saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, water, chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
2. Cook the Ground Beef
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and cooked through, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess grease from the skillet, then sprinkle the taco seasoning mix over the cooked beef. Add a splash of water if needed, and stir well to combine. Let the beef simmer for a few minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Remove from heat and set aside.
