Instructions for Making Cheesecake Brownies
Step 1: Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Pan
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
Step 2: Make the Brownie Layer
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Add the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix until smooth and combined, but do not overmix.
Step 3: Make the Cheesecake Layer
- In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.
- Add the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Beat until creamy and fully incorporated.
Step 4: Layer the Brownies and Cheesecake
- Pour about 3/4 of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
- Carefully pour the cheesecake mixture over the brownie layer.
- Drop spoonfuls of the remaining brownie batter on top of the cheesecake layer.
- Using a knife or toothpick, gently swirl the brownie batter into the cheesecake layer to create a marbled effect.
Step 5: Bake the Brownies
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs. Be careful not to overbake, as the brownies should be fudgy.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
Step 6: Slice and Serve
- Once cooled, lift the brownies out of the pan using the parchment overhang.
- Slice into squares and serve. These brownies are delicious at room temperature or chilled.
