Ingredients:
- 4 slices bacon, diced
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cans (15 ounces each) navy beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Cooking the Bacon and Onion
- Cook the Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the diced bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside, leaving the bacon drippings in the skillet.
- Sauté the Onion and Garlic: Add the diced onion to the skillet with the bacon drippings and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
Preparing the Baked Beans Mixture
- Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked bacon, sautéed onion and garlic, drained navy beans, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir until all ingredients are well combined.
