The yellowness on the pillows is worse than bitter radish, and they also dust. How to wash pillows well and maintain the result?

It’s a shame to throw away old pillows: they’ve become so worn out over the months and years. And you won’t find a new comfortable one right away. Modern synthetic fillers won’t let you get a good night’s sleep, so people keep the old ones until the very end.

It was once common to sleep on heavy down pillows, they were divided into large ones, according to the standard 70×70 centimeters. Care was a real drag.

  • they dried the pillows in the sun for days, guarded them from the rain;
  • in the evening they beat the dust out of them;
  • The dirty pillowcases were thrown away. As soon as they lost their appearance, mothers simply bought thick fabric and sewed new covers;

Advanced mothers of families wisely reduced the size of pillows. As soon as they cut off about twenty centimeters from both sides, sleep only benefited, it became more comfortable to sleep.

But artificial fillers do not please those who are used to feather ones. These fibers instantly lose their shape, fall down. And they do not adjust to the shape of the body, no pleasure from sleep!

Perhaps the most comfortable are special orthopedic ones. They are made specifically for comfortable sleep, the cover can be removed and washed, and they keep their shape for years.

But no matter how you look at it, the pillow turns yellow from sweat, collects dirt, dust, and sebum. Changing the pillowcase is not enough, because dirt gets inside too. And no one wants to breed dirt and dust mites.

Down pillows have to be washed because dust gets stuck in them in unimaginable quantities.

Tired housewives look hopefully towards the washing machine, but doubt. In vain. Even a bulky pillow is washed well in the drum. It definitely won’t work by hand.

How to properly wash a pillow

Here are 3 effective ways to wash yellowed pillows:

1. Hot water with lemon.

Lemon is an invaluable and very effective ally if you want to give new life to your pillows to sleep well and with optimal comfort. You can use the following trick to take advantage of the bleaching and disinfecting properties of citrus fruits.

Start by boiling 2.5 liters of water and adding 6 cups of lemon juice. Then soak the pillow in this lemon water for about 2 hours. All you have to do is wash the pillow in soapy water to remove stains, then rinse and dry it. Feel free to add more water to ensure the pillow is completely submerged in the solution.
